The Fifty Million Dollar Job is out.
This story began as a flashback while I was writing Mortal Silence — and then it refused to stay small. What started as background history grew into a complete, self-contained crime novella, set decades before Elaine Brogan ever enters the picture.
If you’ve read Mortal Silence, you already know the devious Salvatore Grimaldi.
You know about the legendary cache of counterfeit U.S. dollars.
You know it was printed inside the Italian mint.
And you know it remained untouched — frozen, hidden, and dangerous — for decades.
This book tells that story:
The year is 1982.
Italy still prints its own paper money.
And a brilliant but deeply dissatisfied technician inside the mint believes he’s found a way to pull off the perfect crime.
What follows is not a traditional heist adventure, but a slow-burn battle of wills between that man and Grimaldi — a negotiation so lopsided, and a deception so unforgivable, that it can only end one way.
This also book reveals:
- the exact details of how the fifty million dollars were printed inside the mint
- why Grimaldi insisted the money be kept on ice
- and the grisly price paid to make sure it stayed that way
The book is now live on Kindle, as well as Nook, Google Play, and Smashwords.
Unfortunately, both Apple Books and Kobo are experiencing extended review delays due to the holidays. So the book is stuck in the queue, and there’s no reliable timeline for when those platforms will push it live.
Rather than make Kindle readers wait any longer, I decided to release the book everywhere it’s already available and move forward.
